Understanding Depression More Deeply
On certain days, simply getting up and continuing with life can feel like a quiet victory one that no one else sees, yet carries immense value. For those living with depression, every small step forward is an act of courage.
Depression Is Not Weakness
Depression is not just temporary sadness or emotional sensitivity. It is a medical condition caused by chemical imbalances in the brain—particularly involving neurotransmitters such as serotonin and dopamine, which influence mood, sleep, and energy levels.
People experiencing depression may feel exhausted, lose interest in activities they once enjoyed, struggle with concentration, or even experience guilt without clear reason.
These feelings are not signs of personal weakness. They are signals from the brain and body saying, “It’s time to rest and receive care.”
A Growing Mental Health Concern in Thailand
According to Thailand’s Department of Mental Health (Ministry of Public Health, 2025), more than 1.45 million people have been diagnosed with depression and are receiving treatment. The number continues to rise each year.
In addition, it is estimated that over 13 million Thai people are facing some level of mental health challenges.
The increasing number of patients in the healthcare system reflects a positive change—more people are seeking help and accessing treatment. At the same time, it also signals that stress and depression are becoming a significant national health issue, affecting not only mental well-being but also physical health and overall quality of life.
When the Mind Is Exhausted, the Body Feels It Too
Chronic stress and depression can lead to excessive production of cortisol, the body’s stress hormone. Elevated cortisol levels may weaken the immune system, dull the skin, increase hair loss, and disrupt sleep patterns.
On the other hand, when the mind begins to feel calm and supported, the body can restore itself more effectively. Cells regain balance, forming the foundation of sustainable health and true inner radiance.
Caring for Your Mind Is Part of Holistic Health
True beauty is not achieved through skincare alone—it begins with being gentle with yourself.
Start with small, meaningful steps:
-Get enough rest and listen to your body’s needs
-Engage in light exercise to stimulate natural “feel-good” hormones
-Spend time in nature or with people who make you feel safe
-If your sadness feels overwhelming, don’t hesitate to speak with a mental health professional
At our clinic, we believe that sustainable beauty begins with caring for both mental and physical health. When the heart grows stronger, inner light naturally shines outward.
Some Days, Just Being Here Is Enough
Don’t pressure yourself to “fight” every single day. Sometimes allowing yourself to rest is also a form of self-love.
Remember: true beauty does not come from flawless skin—
it comes from a heart that understands and forgives itself.
